Ascot International School actively promotes an all round ethos of positive mental health and wellbeing. Primarily it is about student mental health but of course, staff’s mental health and wellbeing is interrelated, and the two go hand in hand. Positive wellbeing affects the whole school culture. The intention of this policy is to act as guidance for all staff including support staff and governors.
At Ascot we have a very strong and supportive pastoral system that is designed to support our students’ emotional, personal and academic growth. At the heart of this is the form tutor; each student is assigned to a form tutor who will meet the students at the start of the day during the registration period. They will also meet together for an hour during the week where an assembly will take place and tutors will give out notices, set targets and check on student progress. After assessments, tutors will analyse results and performance in order to assist students in their improvement.
If there are any issues that need to be addressed, subject teachers will contact tutors who will coordinate the appropriate response, which may be communicating with parents, the Assistant Head of Pastoral Care or the Secondary Headteacher.
At Ascot International School, we believe that it is every child has the right to learn in conditions which promote the optimum development of their intellectual, physical, emotional and social well-being. Everyone in the Ascot community has a responsibility to ensure that children are supported and protected in order to achieve their optimum development. Issues relating to child protection are important in all international contexts, irrespective of socio-economic backgrounds.
As a school, we recognise that we are in a unique position of responsibility for the safety and welfare of students. Ascot is committed to embedding safeguarding policies, procedures and guidelines into the school’s practices to ensure that we fulfil our duties towards child protection.
At Ascot International School, safeguarding the safety and wellbeing of every child is our unwavering commitment.
